The Golden Rule Has Left Humboldt Bay!

The historic wooden sailboat is on her way down the California coast, before heading to Hawaii, the Marshall Islands, Guam, Okinawa, Jeju, South Korea and Japan.

Sailing report from Project Manager Helen Jaccard:

We had a good night. It was really cold out. We did 4 hours on, 4 off, staggered. We’re past Ft Bragg, around 1/2 way to San Francisco. We want to come in on a flood tide, so need to pass through Golden Gate after 9 am. We can’t check in at our slip (B5) at South Beach Harbor Marina until noon.

Tim Dellas is at the helm and the ocean is glassy calm. Maybe we can sail later. Right now we’re motoring along at about 5 knots.
There were some flashing bouys that we passed last night, maybe used for research? Small lights, so people thought they were far away, then they passed them closer than expected. It put everyone on extra high alert.

Not much traffic out here at night.

We saw a little bit of bioluminesce last night.

      Hi Bill,
I hope you can make it! This will be the last chance for us to visit with our supporters in the Bay Area before we return in 3 years.
