23 Jun New START: Prevent an Escalation of the Nuclear Arms Race!
Extend the New START Treaty limits and re-start inspections!
The New START Treaty is the only remaining Arms Control Treaty between the U.S. and Russia. It expires February 5, 2026! This Treaty caps the number of deployed nuclear weapons at 1,500 each for Russia and the U.S. as well as provides for inspections of all nuclear weapons sites. The VFP Nuclear Abolition Working Group and the Golden Rule Project are working with others around the world in calling on President Trump to agree to the extension of terms proposed by President Putin. Friends Committee on National Legislation has a “Call Congress: Stop a New Nuclear Arms Race“. We encourage you to call your Representatives to cosponsor H.Res.100 and S.Res.61. These resolutions call for urgent negotiations to replace the New START treaty, continued compliance with established limits, and to separately engage in nuclear diplomacy with China.
