Billion Dollar Radar on Sacred Hawaiian Ground for a Missile Defense System

On Nov 11, Lynda Williams gave this PowerPoint presentation at a community gathering in Wai’anae, Hawai’i. Helen Jaccard showed “Making Waves: Rebirth of the Golden Rule” and many speakers talked about their visits to the sacred site at Ka’ene Point on O’ahu and their feelings about the huge installation and infrastructure to support it. This new radar, on the site where there are already two in place, is part of a “Missile Defense System” that will not work, is a waste of taxpayer money, and on land where people conduct hunting and other cultural practices. Just like the thirty meter telescope, it is something that many Hawaiians do not want.
