February 2014 Update

February has been a very busy month thanks largely to The Dutchman (Breckin) and Dr. Skipper Oliver. We’ve been painting, sanding and painting again. the weather has been good up till today. Enough money has come in to allow us to obtained Sepele for the aft deck and transom. Templates are made and some boards have already been cut for fitting.

Luke finally got the forge assembled and he along with Mike and myself melted some 90 pounds of brass and poured two rudder gudgeon’s and made ingots of the excess. Weather permitting, we’ll fire the forge again for the party on the 15th. of March and pour belaying pins, some for the boat and some for sale. Once Dennis finishes drilling the gudgeon’s we can attach them to the transom and hang the rudder with the tiller in place. A 16 inch oval port hole is reassembled, polished with new sealant around the glass and awaiting installation over the galley area on the aft bulkhead. Skip shined up the hardware for the bow Sprit and replaced it along with the three anchoring cables. All in all the project is coming along just right and is garnering more and more attention every week.
