City of Eureka – Please Dredge Your Marina

For the third time in two weeks the Golden Rule got stuck in the muck in the Eureka Public Marina trying to enter or exit her berth, all three times with guests aboard.  The first two times we managed to get unstuck on our own, but not today.

Our two guests from Port Townsend, Caroline Wildflower and Clint Weimeister arrived Sunday evening and were looking forward to sailing on the Golden Rule.  Monday afternoon the tide was fine, but the wind was too strong to go out – so we rescheduled for early Tuesday.  However, when we tried to get out of the marina, at a tide that was approximately 2 feet, she got stuck in the mud.  Despite our best efforts and those on the tugboat Ajax, all they could do for us was ferry us over to the dock.  It was after 2 pm before Goldie could be moved back home.
