Waimanalo – Honoring the Honu (turtles)

The conclusion of the circumnavigation of O’ahu brings us back around to Waimanalo where the Navy usually does practice amphibious land invasions during RIMPAC.
This year, for the first time ever, Honu (grean sea turtles) are nesting at Waimanalo beach. With few tourists and no Navy activity to scare them away, they are here. We will sail as close to the shore as is safe for Golden Rule, circling around while people ashore honor the honu.
