We’re excited about the upcoming voyage to the Pacific Northwest!

Draft Golden Rule Sailing Schedule 2-16-16

Planning for the 2016 sailing season is well underway!

“We will be sailing throughout the northwest for a peaceful and sustainable world,” says Gerry Condon, Vice President of Veterans For Peace. The VFP Golden Rule Project will collaborate with local activists and experts to tell our story and to amplify nuclear, peace, and environmental messages in a dramatic way!

With her red sails emblazoned with a huge peace symbol and VFP logo, the Golden Rule will be hard to miss when she sails by the Trident Nuclear Submarine base on Hood Canal or arrives into Elliott Bay in Seattle during Fleet Week and SeaFair.

When the Golden rule is in port, the public will be invited to tour the boat.  Friends and supporters can even go sailing with us!

Please help us get the Golden Rule to the Pacific Northwest with your tax-deductible donation.

Tentative plans include (there will be more):

  • Fleet week Parade of War Ships, Portland, OR, June 8
  • Cascade Locks, June 11
  • Actions against oil and coal trains and ports, Vancouver, WA
  • Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival, Seattle, WA July 2-4

  • Actions against a Liquid Natural Gas Facility, Coos Bay and Bandon, Oregon Oct 21-25

The Ground Zero Center for Non-Violent Action will be a key partner for this momentous voyage. Physicians For Social Responsibility, Quakers and other faith-based groups, Japanese-Americans, Hiroshima Survivors, and anti-nuclear, peace and environmental organizations are invited to join with us to make this season a huge success.

By educating as many people as possible and helping them connect with local anti-nuclear, peace and environmental groups, we will influence a change in culture – to abolish nuclear weapons, convert to safe energy sources, clean up the radioactive waste, abolish war, and transition to a more just economy.

As Restoration Coordinator Chuck DeWitt said, “The Golden Rule is a weapon of mass education!”
