11 Sep The Golden Rule to leave Humboldt Bay!
On September 12, 2018 at approximately 8:30 am the Golden Rule with skipper Steve Buck and crew members Bill Eastwood, Tim Dellas and Helen Jaccard will leave the dock at Eureka Public Marina, taking the Golden Rule to San Francisco’s South Beach Harbor marina. You are welcome to see us off either at the marina and an hour later as we exit the bay through the jetty.
We expect to arrive in San Francisco the morning of Friday, September 14 – sailing on Thursday September 13 around San Francisco Bay has therefore been canceled.
It’s been a tremendous visit to Humboldt Bay. Leroy Zerlang again lent his boat yard for a haul out and donated many of the supplies needed to add fasteners to the boat and tune up the rudder installation. Chuck DeWitt acted as Restoration Coordinator. Many volunteers – Bill Eastwood, Tim Dellas, Steve Buck, Ernesto and Marti, Wil Van Natta, Ed Fracker, Carol, Ryan Fargo, Jim Truitt, and others helped get the boat ready to sail to Hawaii. We’re grateful for all of the help and looking forward to seeing our supporters as we sail south to San Diego.
We had a well attended event at the Humboldt UU Fellowship and cleared over $1400 after expenses in addition to a generous donation by Alan Samuel so we can purchase a broadband satellite internet system and stay in touch with everyone during our 3 or 4 week passage to Hawaii. Thank you so much, Alan! Thank you all for your support!
We also had a nice potluck party for Quakers and other friends at the home of John and Lynn Dixon. Thank you, John and Lynn!
