The Golden Rule is waiting for calm seas to sail from Astoria to Newport. The educational event Sunday at 5 om at the Rogue Brewery will still be presented. In addition to Helen Jaccard discussing the history and mission of the Golden Rule and nuclear issues today, we have two guesr speakers.

Hanford Downwinder, Pat Hoover, is a University of Oregon Journalism School graduate. Her career was in broadcasting. She was born and raised in Eastern Oregon where, in 1950’s and 1960’s, she was heavily exposed to the radioactive emissions from the Hanford Nuclear Reservation. She has been an anti-nuclear/environmental activist for 26 years.

Susan Cundiff spent 34 years in public education as a school counselor. She serves on the national board of WAND, Women’s Action for New Directions, formerly known as Women’s Action for Nuclear Disarmament. As chapter leader of Oregon WAND, she enjoys finding creative ways to depict our nation’s budget priorities.
