07 Jun “Golden Rule” Welcome at Berkeley Marina June 3
by Cynthia Papermaster
We had a wonderful gathering at the Berkeley Marina to welcome and thank the crew of the Veterans for Peace anti-nuclear boat, the “Golden Rule,” for completing their grueling 28-day voyage from Honolulu to San Francisco Bay. They brought the boat back to the mainland and Bay Area where she will remain for the summer and then continue with a national tour.
This project beautifully conveys the message that we want a nuclear-free future for the world. Participants in the gathering included Veterans for Peace, WILPF, PDA, Berkeley Peace & Justice Commission, and Codepink, who presented each crew member– Captain Kiko, Captain Malinda, Michelle and Nolan — with a “Pink Badge of Courage”!
Captain Kiko with his badge. Luck-Key, the Codepink activist dog, is very fond of the Captain.

During the gathering, Dennis Bernstein (KPFA’s Flashpoints) did a 28 minute interview with Ann Wright and the Golden Rule crew
Later in the summer we hope to have a Codepink “Golden Rule” sail on the Bay, so watch for the event announcement.
