Join the Humboldt Bay community in saying farewell to the Golden Rule.
Departing at 11:30 am from the “Madaket Plaza” at the end of C street in Eureka the historic ferry, Madaket, will accompany the Golden Rule toward the sea, returning to the dock at 12:30 pm. The Golden Rule sank in Humboldt Bay in 2010 and from 2010 to 2015 was restored in the boat yard of Leroy Zerlang.
Dozens of volunteers from the Humboldt Bay community including Veterans For Peace, Quakers, and people who love historic wooden boats brought her and her mission back to life.
Hundreds of people, mostly in Humboldt County, donated to the cause and dozens of businesses donated boat parts and food for fundraising parties.
A national project of Veterans For Peace, the Golden Rule is sailing throughout California to support the UN talks for a Treaty to Ban Nuclear Weapons.
All of the Golden Rule Project members are proud that Humboldt Bay is the home port of the Golden Rule.
She is well loved by this community and will not likely return to her home port for a decade or more.
